Translation is a key sub-branch of Applied Linguistics. By employing the findings and methods of General Linguistics, Translation Studies addresses practical problems in communication across language barriers. Since 1972, the Department of Linguistics at the University of Kelaniya has been a pioneer in teaching and researching this domain. With the current societal awakening in Sri Lanka, the demand for skilled translators and interpreters has surged. The Department of Linguistics has introduced this Diploma to fulfill this national requirement, equipping graduates to serve in diverse capacities within both the government and private sectors.
