Department of Linguistics Successfully Hosts Freshers’ Welcome and AGM 2026 of the Translation Circle

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Kelaniya held the Freshers’ Welcome and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 of the Translation Circle on July 16, 2026, at the K14-001 Auditorium.

The event welcomed new undergraduates entering the Translation Studies and Translation Methods degree programs for the 2026 academic year. The ceremony aimed to build collaboration, unity, and academic engagement among new and continuing students.

Key university leadership attended the event, including Senior Professor Patrick Rathnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Venerable Dr. Kapugollawe Anandakiththi Thero, Head of the Department of Linguistics, alongside department staff and undergraduates.
